On October 3rd -4th, 2008, NTM Asia in coordination with Partnering Churches will present Every Tribe, Every Tongue, Every People, and Every Nation mission conference at Bethesda Bedok Tampines Church.

 

The conference will cover a wide range of topics related to tribal missions. Mission leaders from around the globe with a wealth of leadership and missions experience will speak on several vital aspects of church planting. The important considerations of the obstacles and advantages for Asian missionaries reaching Asians will be discussed.

Topics covered include:

 

Teaching Chronologically:

Why and how NTM teaches chronologically

 

Training for using the Firm Foundations: Creation to Christ chronological teaching model to local mission organizations and missionaries. Sharing on the scope and direction ministry and giving a perspective on using the Firm Foundations: Creation to Christ lessons for evangelism and discipleship.

 

What constitutes a Mature Church:

Four sided Model of a Mature Church and the implications on church planting strategy
- by Oli Jacobsen

 

Oli is the Chairman of the NTM Field Ministries Committee. He will introduce NTM’s four-sided model for developing mature indigenous self-supporting and self-propagating local churches.

 

Culture and Language Acquisition:

The imperative for deep culture and language acquisition prior to evangelism
-by Doug Berglund

 

Doug is the Indonesia Field Coordinator for Training, Mobilization and Partnership and Field Co-Chairman. Doug has been involved in setting up the mission training course for Indonesians. He will encapsulate the content of this course with emphasis upon the how and why of thorough and comprehensive culture and language acquisition before commencing evangelistic teaching.

 

Obstacles and advantages for Asian missionaries:

-Panel led by Calvin Tan --Malaysia, along with Qyu Yoon –South Korea, Jun Fabra –The Philippines, and Jon Paller –The Philippines

 

This panel will explore important considerations for prospective Asian missionaries. They cover the many advantages for Asians reaching out to Asians due to language and cultural similarities and more.

 

The panel will also look at some of the most common obstacles to missionary service. Some of the topics that will be covered include:

  • Taking children out of educational systems of home countries.
  • The challenges of moving a family into difficult living conditions.
  • Committing to extended years of missionary work.
  • Responsibilities to elderly parents.
